Elsie is a seaturtle I painted in 2020 in oils. It is a mix of finger painting and brush. Despite the fact that these are one of the most magical and charismatic creatures on planet, I pianted Elsie to raise awareness about this keystone specie. I read an article about the importance of sea turtles lately and that inspired me to paint one in colourful impressionist style, to give hope and a sense of life. We have to realise that if seaturtles extinct, it will negatively affect all the species who depend on coral reefs and seagrass. They are very important for marine ecosystem, diversity, functionality and habitats.
My name is Hafsa Idrees and I am currently based in Germany. Art has always been close to my heart and even though I have not received a formal education in any particular genre, drawing/painting is an important part of my life. Impressionists like Van Gogh, Monet, and Iris have inspired me so much that I recently dared to explore this genre mainly with finger painting. Our fingertips are designed in a perfect way to manipulate paint, create magical pieces of art and unique textures.
